JY AUSTRALIA AND MONASH UNIVERSITY PARTNER FOR FIRST NATIONS AUSTRALIANS

JY Australia has announced a partnership with Monash University’s Faculty of Information and Technology to enhance workforce participation and outcomes for First Nations Australians in support of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

JY Australia is a First Nations company and Veteran employer committed to serving Country. It delivers impactful Indigenous programs which support Closing the Gap, such as the Indigenous Development and Employment Program (IDEP).

The program is inspired by military leadership and management training, and delivered by experienced veterans and Indigenous professionals, seeking to ensure that emerging leaders reach their potential.

JY will work with Monash University’s Faculty of Information and Technology to increase the opportunities available for First Nations people, via the development of important and impactful action plans with a focus on enhancing education, training, research, policies, strategies and funding.

JY will support Monash in its development of a National Indigenous Cybersecurity Strategy which will include technology-related initiatives and industry based micro-credentials. It will also enable Defence contract collaborations, and the promotion of Indigenous industry-based learning within Defence.

Hayden Surrao, Board Chairman of JY Australia said:

“Within JY we have a background working in Defence and industry, and as a First Nations company, with a strong Indigenous workforce and drawing upon our engagement with communities, we can use our experience when working with Monash to enable positive and deeply impactful outcomes for First Nations peoples in support of Closing the Gap.

“We understand that diversity enhances the capability of organisations and with cybersecurity being a national priority, growing sector and a shared responsibility across government and industry, enabling diversification of capability within the cybersecurity pipeline is essential.”

JY Australia is exhibiting at Indo Pacific 2023 from 7-9 November, ICC Sydney on stand 4V9. It is free to attend the Indo Pacific exhibition for all three days - register now.
